In general meaning of Cast Resin Transformers; transformers are such that their magnetic circuit and windings had not been plunged into a insulating liquid. Windings of this type of transformers had been produced using conductors which have E and H class insulation until the 1970s. However, it usually could not been gotten above the level of 10 kV due to the dielectric resistance. The developments in the resin technology since 1970s have solved the problems related with processing of resin, partial discharge and life of resin. Nowadays, cast resin transformers which their windings covered with epoxy resin and are widely used ( including 36 kV voltage level) are began to manufacture.

1. Epoxy which is used for insulation of windings has features such that hard-flammable, self-extinguishing and not release toxic gas to the environment when exposed to the arc. 2. It is highly resistant to moisture. There is no objection to work in 100% humid environment. 3. With the addition of fan cooling system, it is possible to increase the power capacity of up to 50%. 4. There is Temperature Control System that protects only windings as protection and signal equipment against high temperature of environment or unpermitted overheating which is the result of overloading. 5. It can be used safely in places which people are dense in taking into enclosing. 6. It is highly resistant to by-pass due to the design of windings. It does not need maintenance during the life of operation. Therefore, the operation expenditures is almost non existing.
